Phonology, morphology, and syntax of modern Spanish.
We are adding the Pre-requisite of SPAN 303 to the SPAN 500 course to ensure that undergraduate students enrolling in this co-convened (undergraduate/graduate) class are adequately prepared to be successful in this advanced culture course taught in Spanish. This will not affect the time to degree for majors.

To Whom It May Concern This is to confirm the concurrence of the Linguistics Program faculty with the proposed changes in the prerequisites for the cross-listed course SPAN 515/LING 504. We suggest that the prerequisites for graduate students read “permission from the instructor.”
Mila Tasseva-Kurktchieva Director, Linguistics Program
Modified wording of prerequisite: no need to say the prerequisite applies only to undergraduates as graduates fall under the 'permission of instructor' provision.
Also modified Bulletin description to remove cross-listing; no syllabus needed for this administrative change.
Thank you for submitting your proposal to the Committee on Curricula & Courses. We are moving your proposal forward to the Faculty Senate. We appreciate your patience and commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.
This course update will be reflected in the 2018-19 Undergraduate & Graduate Academic Bulletins.
