Sociological perspectives related to various aspects of family behaviors, roles, and values.
This change reflects current sociological thinking about families in which there is not a historically/culturally stable or consistent notion of "the" family, which is implied by the use of that article. It is also in line with other institutional indicators of how sociologists define and study families; for example, the change in the title of a leading journal on family studies from "Journal of Marriage and the Family" to "Journal of Marriage and Family."
Edited proposal to remove cross-listing from Bulletin description. This brings the Bulletin description in agreement with the description in the cross-listed course (SOCY 305).
Thank you for submitting your proposal to the Committee on Curricula & Courses. We appreciate your patience and commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.
