ENGL 102 is added as a prerequisite because ELCT 201 requires students to communicate in the language of the Electrical Engineering discipline. Effective communication in English is a necessary prerequisite.
Additionally the change to require "C or better" for all prerequisites is a course-by-course qualificaiton replacement for the recently deleted lower/upper division checkpoint.
We have no change to the course description, but in the APPS system, the box above that contains the course description also shows prereq info. I assume that we don't need to show a change to the course description and the prereq part will be handled automatically.
We are attempting to standardize the way pre and pre/co-requisites are described in CEC course descriptions (and I am sorry that I didn't share this with you sooner). Please write them like this:
Prerequisites: C or better in ENGL 102, C or better in CSCE 211, and C or better in ELCT 102.
Corequisite: Pre or Corequisite: ELCT 222
