Introduction to Project-based Learning theory and basics of designing, delivering and assessing it.
In both in college and the global workplace, success requires more than basic knowledge and skills. PK-12 students must learn how to take initiative and responsibility, solve problems, work in teams, and communicate ideas effectively. To this point, Project- Based Learning (PBL) is one way certified classroom teachers can engage their students in authentic, engaging, complex problems as well as addressing the knowledge and skills that are needed later in their educational and career pathways (Buck Institute for Education, n.d.). The South Carolina State Department offers an endorsement in project- based Learning (PBL). This proposed course provides an opportunity for certified teachers to meet one of the requirements for this certificate.
