This is just a name change to help students and faculty understand between Bios 754 (Discrete Data Analysis) and Bios 759 (Theory and Methods of Discreete Data Analysis). the old name "Biostatistical Methods for Rates and Proportions" confused everyone as to what was being taught.
We have removed the 2 credit option as we no longer need it. The 2 credit option was for epidemiology students; they now take the 3 credit Bios 754.
This title change seems a bit more substantive and a syllabus is warranted and some changes are necessary to the syllabus.
Label Student Objectives as "Learning Outcomes" and use action verbs / measurable terms. Replace "understand"
If you choose to retain the pass/fail option, state what a "pass" means, or, modify to only letter grades and run the scale to F ("etc." is not acceptable).
You indicate that students can take the class for either 2 or 3 credits. You must specify how students would earn a grade if taking the course for 2 credits and how that would be different for students taking the course for 3 credits.
