EPID 769 was originally developed by the instructor as a doctoral level course, and the expectations for students are similar to other doctoral courses in our department. We want the course number to indicate an 800 rather than a 700 level course so as to provide another course developed specifically for doctoral students. We recently received new criteria for accreditation from CEPH, our accrediting agency, which stated the following regarding doctoral degrees:..."These students complete doctoral-level, advanced coursework and other experiences that distinguish the program of study from a master's degree in the same field."
Pre-requisite: It appears that requiring EPID 700 or 701 before taking this course was inadvertently left off the original New Course Proposal. Clinical Effectiveness requires students to have taken a graduate level introductory course in epidemiology.
