Orientation to transition planning and vocational training as integrated components of secondary level education curriculum for students with disabilites.
The grading system is being changed to standard (letter grades only). Pass/fail is not an appropriate option for this course given that this is part of the sequence of 6 courses for the newly developed SC state endorsement in secondary transition.
The course description is being changed to delete the program restriction. Students do not need to be admitted to the Special Education degree program in order to complete the endorsement courses. The phrase "for students with disabilites" is being added to the course description to make clearer.
The committees reviewing course proposals and apps have also been looking for some type of statement regarding minimal technology/computing skills needed to complete the course. This should be included in the syllabus. I've included a sample you can revise and use below.
Technology and Technical Skills Needed
Students are expected to have basic computer skills including using the Internet, specifically, the Web. They are expected to log into the course site at least once a day. Students should be able to interact with the course site and resources in Blackboard (posting to Blackboard discussion board, submitting assignments, etc). Students will be expected to use create wikis in Blackboard and prepare reports using a word processor. The minimal technical skills required include the ability to:• organize and save electronic files• find and use web resources (e.g. external resources for the wikis)• use email and attach files,• check email and Blackboard daily• download and upload documents via email and Blackboard.• create a recorded presentation in MS PowerPoint (or other required software?
Please modify theses as appropriate. Call me at 803-777-0460 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions. Once you return the modified proposal I'll review it and forward it straightaway.
