Preoperative assessment, intraoperative management and postoperative management of patients receiving anesthesia. Development of cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to perform an advanced health assessment for patients undergoing anesthesia.
This course meets the definition of a distance learning (DL) course. Didactic parts of this course are delivered via two-way, synchronous AV communication only to students in our Masters of Nurse Anesthesia (MNA) program in Columbia and Greenville. The IT departments in the Schools of Medicine at each campus provide all necessary equipment and support for Distance Learning. PowerPoint presentations and class discussion are recorded and available for asynchronous review using Blackboard. Robust two-way, synchronous AV communication is the most efficient and effective way to deliver instructional content to both groups of students. The course materials incorporate basic accessibility features, provide for appropriate learning activities, and allow for appropriate interaction that facilities learning. Faculty presenters may be in either Columbia or Greenville. Lecture rooms have large screen monitors showing students at the distant location, allowing visual monitoring and real-time communication. All learning outcomes in this Distributed Learning course are equivalent for face-to-face (F2F) vs distance students.
