A survey of nineteenth-century European painting and sculpture, following the lives and works of major artists, changes in style and taste against the backdrop of a broader cultural and historical context.
The proposed title and description changes are meant to clarify the purpose and content of the course, while maintaining a clear distinction between this class and those courses that are focused on American art and architecture of the same time periods.
