Supervised work experience as approved by department. Generally three hours of academic credit, but upon special request of supervising professor and approval of appropriate area director, an internship may carry a maximum of six hours credit, however, only three hours may apply towards major credit. Pass-Fail only. Internship contract required.
We are seeing greater interest among undergraduates in obtaining internships, as well as encouraging students to seek more internships at earlier stages in their career. Thus, we need to put some structure and standards around the internship process. Introducing this “course” is strongly encouraged by the Moore School.
The syllabus is missing many required components for a distributed learning course (e.g., statement verifying learning outcomes are equivalent to those of a face-to-face (F2F) version of the course; overview of how the course will be conducted; specific technologies/software/programs to be used in the course; minimal studenttechnical requirements/skills; grading policy; provisions for students with disabilities; academic integrity policy; etc. See http://www.sc.edu/faculty/PDF/INDEV_Checklist_13Aug2018.pdf.
In order for this course to be cross-listed with BADM, both titles, course descriptions, and prerequisites must match. Please make updates to make this new course match BADM 499. If this is not what is intended, please remove crosslist indicator.

While this proposal was submitted prior to the deadline for the Fall 2019 bulletin, the committee had questions that were communicated to the proponent by the Email. This was handled this way in an attempt to resolve the issues and get the proposal approved so it could be included in the 2019 bulletin. Because the issues were not resolved in time, the proposal is being returned so it can by handled normally in the APPS system.

Thank you for submitting your proposal to the Committee on Curricula & Courses. We have approved the proposal and are moving it forward to the Faculty Senate. It is recommended someone from the department attend the next Faculty Senate meeting in case there are questions from the floor regarding your proposal.
The committee did notice two issues with the proposal.
1) The syllabus is suppose to include the Bulletin Course description, but this is missing in the submitted syllabus. While the guidelines do require that you include the Bulletin Description, you have the option of also including a more detailed course description that provides more information for the class being offered.
2) The syllabus should have a disability accomodations statement
Please address these in the syllabus the next time the course is taught.
We appreciate your patience and commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.

Course will be added to the 1920 Undergraduate Bulletin.
