Survey of cardiovascular development, anatomy, physiology and pathology. Recent advances in our understanding of the basic mechanisms of congenital cardiovascular defects and cardiovascular disease. Engineering principles, detection and treatment of cardiovascular defects.
This course has been offered as an experimental elective, under the BMEN 589 designator, for three offerings. During that time, the course content has been solidified and strong enrollments have indicated the utility of the course for biomedical engineering majors. Thus, we wish to convert the course to a permanent offering to be listed within the bulletin and offered on a regular basis.

I discussed this with Amanda Zeigler who directs UG programs in Biology. She thought there would be an interest. So the Department of Biological Sciences acknowledges the inclusion of BIOL 302 as an alternate pre-requisite for BMEN 346, BMEN 547, and BMEN 548.
