With the retailing industry continuing to change due to evolving technologies and the importance of big data analysis, companies are focusing more and more on product category profitability as a means to attaining financial stability. Carrying the right product mix at the right time in the right amounts is imperative as retailers complete in an Omni-channel environment. The course proposed, “Category Management”, will help to give students exposure to the analysis tools necessary to make impactful product decisions across various types of retail businesses. Students will use hands-on industry software and product category/SKU data to make decisions on store assortments. This will enhance their critical thinking and decision making skills necessary for future employment.
