Internship for practice in elementary classrooms (grades 2-6) related to curriculum design, assessment, interactive teaching, and professional roles.
The proposed EDEL 490 course consolidates EDEL 490A, 490B, and 490C (4 credit hours each) into a single 12 hr course. The A/B/C designation was originally constructed to disaggregate students' performance across dimensions of internship performance. Viewing historical data, this disaggregation has not served its intended purpose as students have performed identically well across the three dimensions in all but a very few cases. Given the burden of creating 3 distinct courses, with roughly 20 sections across each course, each spring term, the workload is not reasonable given the historical data in students' performance.
