Select one of the following two options:
Two changes are proposed to the Comparative Literature major requirements.
The presentation of the revised program should be improved to make it clear that students have a choice between "Thesis Option" and "Non-Thesis Option". The remaining two notes could be improved if there were stated more like the following:
Please adjust this wording as appropriate. Remember that it should be clear to students, parents, and advisors.
I look forward to receiving, and approving, the revised proposal.
Your proposal is being returned for the following reason(s):
- It is not obvious from the Changes to Program Curriculum that it makes the Thesis optional. The 3 hour CPLT 499 - Senior Thesis is still listed. The Non-Thesis option is just listed in one of the bullet points. This needs clarification. I don't see a problem implementing the change, it just needs to be more clearly stated.
- The third note under the Thesis is confusing. according to the text, the thesis is a requirement. if it is optional, and a non-thesis option is available, then the category heading should indicate this, not the footnote. I agree with John, no problem with the change, but it needs to be clearer that the thesis is optional.
Please address the above and return this proposal, through all the channels, by April 24 at noon in order to be considered for approval by the Faculty Senate at the June meeting. Should your proposal not reach the committee by the stated deadline, the next Curricula and Courses review cycle will begin in August 2017. We are looking forward to your making this cycle.
