Subject: RE: MKT 350
Pls. forgive my belated ness in getting back to you.
We will be fine with the proposed change. Satish Jaychandran, the chair of marketing, just had this comment:
I just needed to know so that we can project the demand. Also, we will treat it like a standard elective where they will get in on a seats-available basis after we cater to the needs of BA majors and minors. Given our capacity constraints, that is the best we can do.
Thanks for contacting us and let us know if there’s anything else we need to do.
Have a most wonderful holiday,

Subject: MKT 350
The School Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management is currently revising its curriculum requirements. Last year at the request of the Provost, the department reduced the number of hours required for graduation from 127-120. This year they are tackling the task of restructuring the courses included in the degree. As such, they have requested that Marketing 350 be changed from a “related area required course” to a “recommended elective.” Their hope is that this will allow students to have more electives within the degree so that they may choose areas of interest and emphasis. We still believe that many student will choose this course but others may wish to focus on other areas.
This proposed change will only affect students enrolled in HRTM and not those enrolled in other departments within the college of HRSM.
I hope the DMSOB will be supportive of this change. I am happy to discuss this with you further at any time.
Thank you for considering this inquiry.
