|Alpha Epsilon Delta
AED is a national pre-health honor society with an on-campus chapter. The Alpha Chapter is the oldest pre-health honor society here at the University of South Carolina and the second oldest AED chapter in the nation (established in 1929). It is designed for distinguished students who wish to pursue a career in one of the health fields. AED hosts bi-weekly meetings in which physicians, dentists, veterinarians, and other health professionals come and speak to students on various topics. AED also conducts medical student discussion panels and hosts two annual physician mixers for our members. Being in AED exposes pre-professional health students to many aspects of various health professions and also offers opportunities of getting potentially involved with free medical clinics, physician shadowing, volunteer opportunities, networking and trips to professional schools. Our mentoring program is set up to give advice to our first year members on topics such as undergraduate academic success and resume building. Joining AED is a great opportunity to improve campus involvement, leadership skills and personal/ professional development.
