Active Minds
Active Minds at USC is a student run non-profit organization that promotes mental health awareness, education, and advocacy. The group is designed to utilize peer outreach in conjunction with the counseling center to increase students’ awareness of mental health issues and symptoms of mental illness, provide information about available resources, encourage students to seek help as soon as help is needed, and to serve as a liaison between students and the mental health community. Black Box
Black Box is a multicultural theatre ensemble that aims to provide an artistic outlet that expresses the influence of African American writers, actors, and artists of the past, present, and future. Furthermore, it intends to manifest the idea of a "New Romanticism." That is to examine and display art centered on issues impacting black communities (sexism, colorism, addiction, violence, homophobia, etc.) without glorifying these problems. In doing so it will combat three ideas sometimes displayed in modern theatre: art is for art's sake (the idea that art is not political); art is only about inner angst; and middle class values and images are the only positive representations.

Off-Off Broadway
Off-Off Broadway is the musical theater club. We produce at least two shows each year, a musical revue in the fall, and a full-length musical in the spring. All of the production work and performing is done by students, but you do not have to be a member of the club in order to audition for a show. We go as a group to see local musical productions and watch movies. We're also looking into finding performance outlets outside of USC, such as community events or competitions.
