Affiliates and Allies of the Film and Media Studies Program

Film and Media Studies Program Faculty Affiliate Faculty and Allied Faculty are actively engaged in the research and study of film and media, and the promotion of film and media culture at the University of South Carolina.

FAMS Affiliate Faculty

FAMS Affiliate Faculty are faculty whose current research and teaching are engaged with issues, topics and concerns of the film and media profession. They teach Film and Media Studies foundational courses and play an active role in the advancement of the Film and Media Studies Program. To apply for Affiliation with the Film and Media Studies Program, send a CV and letter of interest to the current FAMS Director that summarizes your research agenda in the field. Include your engagement choice: 1.) regularly teach a FAMS core course; 2.) participate in FAMS faculty governance.    

FAMS Affiliate criteria:

Teach a FAMS core course or play an active role in Film and Media Studies Program governance.
FAMS 240 – Film and Media Analysis
FAMS 300 – Film and Media History
FAMS 308 – Global Media Industries

FAMS Allied Faculty

FAMS Allied Faculty are UofSC faculty and staff members who conduct research and teach classes in a variety of subject areas related to film and media studies. They share information about campus and community events related to film/media subject areas, inform the Director of FAMS about courses they teach that might be of interest to FAMS majors or minors, and encourage students with interest in the study of film and media to connect with FAMS Core Faculty to learn about the major and minor. To apply for FAMS Allied Faculty status, send a CV and letter of interest to the current FAMS Director that summarizes your research and/or teaching and its intersection with subject areas in the field of film and media studies.  

FAMS Allies criteria:

Publication, research or production activity in a film and media studies subject area and teaching in a film and media studies subject area.
