Search announced for Director of the Walker Institute

The College of Arts & Sciences seeks a visionary leader to serve as the director of the Walker Institute of International and Area Studies at the University of South Carolina.

Founded in 1961, the Walker Institute is one of the oldest internationally focused university research institutes in the United States and has received awards for its innovative programming. It currently provides support for the University’s six area studies programs: African Studies, Asian Studies, European Studies, Islamic World Studies, Latin American Studies, and Russian & Eurasian Studies. Starting in Fall 2021, the Walker Institute will also be the home of the B.A. degree in Global Studies and the B.S. in Cyber Intelligence. In addition, the Walker Institute recently was asked to serve as an administrative liaison between the College of Arts & Sciences and the UofSC Army, Navy, and Air Force ROTC programs.
