Diversity and Inclusion Academy

We commend the following CAS faculty and staff members for completing the required number of Diversity and Inclusion Academy workshops necessary to be certified as CAS Diversity Advocates. They received a "Diversity Advocate" decal as well as a letter of congratulations from Interim Dean Samuels and Interim Associate Dean Todd Shaw. We appreciate all who take the initiative to learn and lead on the vital goals of greater diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In an effort to increase access to diversity training resources on campus, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is launching a new Diversity and Inclusion Academy.

The Academy will host sessions for CAS faculty and staff on the following seven topics:

  • Anti-bullying
  • Anti-racism
  • GreenZone Ally Training
  • Intercultural Training
  • SafeZone Ally Training
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention and Reporting
  • Trans Advocacy Training

The Academy will promote the core values of our Carolinian Creed and, pursuant to Strategic Priority 4 of the University’s new Strategic Plan, work to “cultivate a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive campus culture where every individual, regardless of background, has the full opportunity to flourish and thrive”.

The Academy is open to all faculty and staff in the College.

Participants who complete all seven workshops over the course of four consecutive semesters will be eligible to receive a specially designed CAS “Diversity Advocate” decal to post on their office doors, computers, etc.  Diversity Advocates will also be listed online in a searchable directory.

Topics for Spring 2022

  • Antiracism
  • Understanding Disability Rights and Increasing Accessibility
  • Green Zone Allyship
  • Trans Advocacy

Dates to be announced.
