My Arts and Sciences

The Incubator hosts events for College of Arts and Sciences faculty to encourage and celebrate innovative teaching across our community.

Gamecock Teaching Days

In this annual event, held each Fall, some of our best, most creative faculty open their classrooms for colleagues to visit for the day. Small groups of 3-5 observers visit a class taught by our award-winning Teaching Associates to see different teaching styles, instructional practices, and learning environments. After each observation session, the Incubator provides coffee and other refreshments, giving faculty an opportunity to share their perspectives in an informal, follow-up conversation. This event connects faculty committed to innovative and effective teaching to like-minded colleagues in and outside of their home disciplines.

Faculty Learning Communities and Think Tanks

Departments and CAS faculty are invited to convene reading groups, journal clubs, communities of practice, or similar groups related to teaching in the Incubator space. Please email Christy Friend at for details.

Innovation Fest (Coming in Spring 2019)

The Incubator invites the college community to hear associates share their work and individual innovation projects alongside food, drink and informal discussions on teaching ideas.
