General Information

The 34th Annual University of South Carolina High School Mathematics Contest, sponsored by UofSC Department of Mathematics, College of Engineering and Computing, College of Arts and Sciences, and South Carolina Honors College, was held on Saturday, January 25, 2020.

The contestants first competed in the written test, a 90-minute individual test. The top three scores from each team count toward the team's score, and the top 16 individuals overall would go on to the final Single Elimination Tournament.

Next came the outdoor activity. This year it was Math Golf. Teams of players walked the course around The Horseshoe in the heart of campus, answering math questions to try to complete each hole in the fewest tries.

Then, after a lunch break, students returned to Gambrell hall for the Team Tournament, a set of questions to be tackled by all the members of the team working together. The score from this portion added to the average score of the team's top three finishers from the Individual Test made the team's final score.

Finally, the top 16 from the Individual Test competed in an elimination tournament to crown the overall winner.
