Longstreet Theatre

Based on hundreds of interviews and surveys with educators from across the US, Peter Duffy’s ReformED is an unflinching portrait of being a teacher in America. In the play we meet public school teachers Helen, Theresa, Carter, Dave and others. Over the course of their school year, the challenges of what it means to be a teacher in the age of educational reform come to light, and they are faced with the decision of whether or not to remain in the profession.

With text taken directly from recorded interviews with real-life educators, ReformED rings like a homeroom bell, sharing the passion, dedication, wisdom, heart-break, humor, and love of being a teacher during an age of ed reform. ReformED is not just a play for teachers; rather, it is a story for anyone who cares about how we educate the next generation, and an appeal for all of us to consider what it means to educate our children.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Postponed

New Performance Dates To Be Announced.

Written by William Shakespeare
Directed by Robert Richmond

Performed at a brand new outdoor venue!

Bring the whole family to enjoy the ultimate summertime fantasy as The Bard intended -- under the stars! This May, we'll debut our new outdoor stage inspired by Shakespeare's own Globe Theatre. Made possible in part by a grant from the UofSC Excellence Initiative, this portable venue will bring the uniquely communal environment of the Globe into the 21st century and provide our audiences with memorable outdoor theatre experiences for years to come. A Midsummer Night's Dream weaves together the stories of four young lovers and a group of roaming actors, who wander through an enchanted forest and find themselves entangled by the mischievous whims of a band of powerful fairies. A timeless tale of magic, mix-ups, and mayhem, this Shakespeare classic reminds us all just "what fools these mortals be!"
