70th Annual Juried Student Exhibition

McMaster Gallery is hosting the annual juried student exhibition from February 19th through March 21st, 2025, a tradition that began in 1955. This exhibition provides an exciting opportunity to showcase the wide variety and high quality of artwork created by SVAD students, as selected by an external juror, and offers an opportunity for students to win awards. EligibilityAll students enrolled in courses within the University of South Carolina Columbia Campus are eligible to submit up to four entries by filling out the online entry form.

  • All work must have been completed during the student’s time of enrollment at USC within the last 2 years.
  • All entries must be of original design and personal execution.
  • Artists working in traditional media as well as experimental media are encouraged to submit entries for judging.
  • All works must be received ready to install and with installation instructions when necessary.

For additional information on rules, eligibility, and artwork sales, please refer to the attached PDFs. JurorThe Juror of the 70th Annual Juried Student Exhibition is Michael Cassidy, a visual artist known for his meticulous paintings of flora and fauna. Since 2015, Cassidy has worked as an Exhibits Master Craftsman at the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia. Cassidy received a Master of Fine Arts from the University of South Carolina in 2014 and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. AwardsThe Student Exhibition will present awards to selected artists who have achieved Juror’s Choice recognition. These awards include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place undergraduate winners and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place graduate winners.  Award recipients will be announced during the Awards Ceremony on Thursday, March 6th, at 6:00 pm at McMaster Gallery.CalendarAll entries must be submitted no later than Monday, January 20th.
