Background

Kevin Rhodes is a first-year doctoral student.

A seasoned communications professional with experience in marketing, stakeholder relations, and community affairs, Rhodes academic interests involve understanding audience communication dynamics, organizational communication cultures, and applied communication ethics. A self-described “blue collar scholar,” he credits his work history as the foundation for his academic pursuits.

Rhodes love of learning extends beyond the classroom. An avid outdoorsman, he often spends his free time hiking, bicycling, canoeing, or using yard tools. He and his wife, Rhonda, enjoy experiencing the world through outdoor travel and adventure as often as possible.


Teaching

Rhodes currently teaches two undergraduate courses, Mass Communication Criticism and Business Writing. His goal in both courses is to engage students as partners in their own learning through interactive assignments, guided discussions and feedback, and directed project-based learning.


Research Interests

Communication audience dynamics, organizational communication cultures, and applied communication ethics.
