Current Position

Laura Thorp manages the daily operations of the student services office for the School of Information Science graduate programs. This includes advising, coordinating graduate assistantships/scholarships, communicating with/updating current students on all program information, issues, updates, important notifications, etc., assessment for SACS, ALISE, and ALA reporting, and daily troubleshooting/problem solving.

Background

Thorp was the student services coordinator for the graduate programs in the English Department for the past 4.5 years. She's worked in a variety of other positions in higher education, including tutoring centers/student success centers, academic support for student athletes and as an adjunct instructor at USC and Columbia College.

Personal

Tharp is currently working on her Ph.D. in American Literature. In her free time, she loves to read, travel, watch horror movies and hang out with her cats — Roscoe and Fergus.
