Save Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020 as the date for our first ever CIC Career Symposium, sponsored by the Nebo Agency! The Symposium will be held from 12:20 to 4 p.m. in the Russell House and will include industry panels and a career fair.

The CIC Career Symposium is focused on developing our students, both professionally and personally, by offering multiple opportunities for students to engage with professionals to learn more about potential career paths, internships and full-time jobs.


Student Registration

College of Information and Communications majors and minors — including all undergraduates, Master of Mass Communications and Master of Library and Information Science students — are invited to attend but must register for the event.

12:20 - 1:20 p.m. - Industry Panels

  • Starting your Career in Advertising or Creative Fields (Russell House Room 205) 
  • Starting your Career in Public Relations (Russell House Room 203)
  • Starting your Career in Multimedia or Broadcast Journalism (Russell House Room 303)

1:20 - 2 p.m. - Informal Coffee Networking Hour (Russell House Ballroom, Room 207)

2 - 4 p.m. - Career Fair Open to Students (Russell House Ballroom, Room 207) 


Location

 The entire CIC Career Symposium will take place in the Russell House University Union, located at 1400 Greene Street, Columbia, SC 29208.

Parking will be available in Bull Street Garage, located at 611 Bull Street
Columbia, SC 29208.

Parking

 Please park in GATE 3 of Bull Street Garage.

Parking passes will be issued to employers at check-in. Please let us know in advance if you need more than 1 parking pass per company.

You will park in the Bull Street Garage at 611 Bull Street by entering into GATE 3. You do not need the pass to get into the garage.  You will take a ticket from a machine when you enter the garage. Then, when you register with us in the Russell House Ballroom, you will receive a pass to hand the garage attendant upon leaving the garage at the end of the day. Be sure not to park in a reserved space or a handicap space.  

Directions

Coming from the Columbia/Charlotte area:

  • Take I-77 to 277. 277 turns into Bull Street when you get off the Interstate.
  • Go down Bull Street until it dead ends. Take a LEFT onto Pendleton STREET. Make a RIGHT onto Pickens. Go to BLOSSOM STREET and make a RIGHT. Then turn RIGHT onto Bull and go to GATE THREE to park.

Coming from Grenville:

  • I-126 to Huger –
  • Take the HUGER exit and go down to BLOSSOM STREET.  Take a LEFT onto BLOSSOM from Huger. Go down to BULL STREET and take a LEFT. Go to GATE THREE to park.

Coming from Charleston:

  • I-26 to I-77 from ASSEMBLY STREET –
  • Go down ASSEMBLY STREET and take a RIGHT onto BLOSSOM STREET. Make a LEFT onto BULL STREET. Go to GATE THREE to park. 

Coming from Atlanta:

  • Get off I-20 and take I-26 toward downtown to Huger –
  • Take the HUGER exit and go down to BLOSSOM STREET.  Take a LEFT onto BLOSSOM from Huger. Go down to BULL STREET and take a LEFT. Go to GATE THREE to park.
