The School of Journalism and Mass Communications offers departmental scholarships for new and continuing students. This list does not include scholarships awarded by the university. 

Freshman Scholarship

The School of Journalism and Mass Communications offers a number of scholarships for exceptional freshmen through the SJMC Scholars Program.  Among the criteria considered for these awards are SAT/ACT scores, high school grade point average and extracurricular activities.  SJMC Scholars are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve and for their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. The SJMC Scholars Scholarships are renewable for four years as long as the student remains in good standing as a full-time student in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

SJMC Media Diversity Scholarship - For Freshmen

To better serve our underrepresented student population, The SJMC Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship is among those awarded. We are committed to providing an inclusive environment and we strive to enhance the diversity within our undergraduate population. With this, we hope to see a reflection of that in our industry. Our goal is to provide a diverse experience for our entire student body in hopes to ultimately enrich educational benefits for all.  The SJMC Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship is renewable for four years as long as the student remains in good standing as a full-time student in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
