Assistant Professor in Educational Technology

The Department of Educational Studies at the University of South Carolina seeks applicants for a full-time tenure track position in Educational Technology at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 16, 2019. 

Job Description

The Educational Technology program at the University of South Carolina currently offers the M.Ed. as a collaborative degree between the main USC Columbia campus and the USC Aiken campus. The program offers the online Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, which comprises a vibrant concentration in Educational Technology. Our active faculty are members, scholars, and leaders within the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) and the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED). The USC College of Education’s online graduate education programs have been ranked nationally by U.S. News & World Report.

The position is a 9-month academic year appointment with opportunities for summer salary. The salary is commensurate with experience. This position necessitates relocation to South Carolina.

The successful candidate will join a team of faculty and will be expected to: (1) teach courses online at the graduate level in areas such as instructional systems design, instructional development, distance education, action research, research design, and literature review; (2) advise graduate students in M.Ed. in Educational Technology and Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction concentration in Educational Technology; (3) participate in program admissions, evaluations, and development; (4) establish a strong and ongoing agenda for research; (5) seek external funding; and (6) serve on departmental, college, and university committees as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Applicants must have (1) an earned doctorate at time of appointment in Educational/Instructional Technology or closely related area, (2) ability to teach online and advise graduate students at the master’s and doctoral levels, (3) evidence of a focused scholarly agenda, and (4) experience/potential to develop extramural funding.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with (1) experiences with action research and/or mixed methods research, (2) demonstrated experience in leading doctoral student research, (3) experiences with STEM, computer science, or engineering education, (4) experiences with corporate, government, military, or healthcare training or talent development, or (5) interest in mentoring minorities or students of color.
