Background

After over a decade of teaching, PJ Alonzo recently joined the College of Education as the Clinical Placement Coordinator for the Middle Level and Secondary Education Programs. PJ began her career in Richland School District Two as an early childhood teacher. She began as a student intern and then certified teacher for 13 years at Pontiac Elementary.

While working as a classroom teacher, PJ served in various leadership and mentoring roles; these included serving as a University of South Carolina coaching teacher to student interns, mentor of induction teachers, Clinical Adjunct and coordinating council co-chair for the UofSC Professional Development Network. In each of these roles, PJ helped facilitate coaching and mentoring opportunities to support the growth of personal and professional development of educators.

She will strive to continue to uphold the high expectations and mission of the college throughout her endeavors.
