Become A Teacher

Current USC Students, you are invited to attend one of our Become a Teacher Sessions.

These sessions are designed for current USC undergraduate students who want to:

  • Become a teacher and are ready to change majors
  • Explore options in the field of education
  • Learn about multiple pathways to a career in education
  • Finish their current degree and enter a graduate degree that prepares you to teach

Topics discussed will include:

  • Overview of teacher education programs
  • Field experiences in schools
  • Forgivable loans and grants for education majors
  • Change of major process for undergraduates
  • Graduate school application process

You will learn about the different education programs:

 

Program Careers Available Degree Type
Early Childhood Education Teach pre-kindergarten - 3rd grade Undergraduate program
Elementary Education Teach grades 2-6 Undergraduate and graduate programs available
Middle Level Education Teach grades 5-8 Undergraduate program
Physical Education Teach physical education in grades K-12 Undergraduate and graduate programs available
Secondary Education Teach English, mathematics, science, or social studies at the high school level Five-year bachelor/masters program and graduate programs available
Special Education  Teach special education in grades K-12 Graduate program

 

Sessions typically last 45-60 minutes. You must sign up in advance for a session. Log in to the scheduler using either your VIP number and password. Make sure the scheduler is set for the Fall 2017 term. Then, select "College Workshop" to find an appointment. Sessions are scheduled for the dates/times/locations below. You must attend a session before you can be eligible to transfer into the College of Education.
