Praxis Core Assistance

When registering for any Praxis exam, list both the University of South Carolina (5818) and the South Carolina Department of Education (8108) as score recipients.

College of Education Assistance

The College of Education provides Praxis Core assistance via the Northstar system. This service is provided by the College of Education at no cost to you. Northstar consists of practice tests and tutorials that cover the content found on the Praxis Core. Email coestudy@mailbox.sc.edu to request Northstar access.

Study Companions

Study Companions are packets of information provided by the Educational Testing Service. Each one is related to a specific section of the Praxis Core. They typically include an overview of the exam, practice questions and explanations, test‐taking strategies, and a template study guide. They are available for each section, Mathematics, Reading, and Writing. We also recommend you watch the Praxis preparation videos on the associated pages.

Professional Organizations

The South Carolina Education Association and the Palmetto State Teachers Association offer Praxis Core workshops. Dates, times, and registration information can be found on each organization’s web site. These workshops typically require a registration fee (fees are often lower for organization members).
