The Office of the Provost has announced the appointment of Dr. Tracey L. Weldon as interim dean of the Graduate School and vice provost for graduate education, effective January 1, 2021. Dr. Weldon, a quantitative sociolinguist specializing in American dialects, joined the UofSC faculty in 2000 and received her PhD in Linguistics from The Ohio State University. Weldon is also the first Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion in the College of Arts and Sciences and has served on the UofSC Blue Ribbon Committee focused on graduate student life.
Dr. Weldon will succeed Cheryl Addy, who has been appointed vice provost and dean of the faculty, effective January 1, 2021. Dr. Addy, also a professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the Arnold School of Public Health, will continue to oversee institutional research, assessment, and policies and will maintain administrative responsibilities in faculty affairs.
