Alex Bishop is originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, but settled in Columbia in 2018 after living in Tennessee, Florida and Georgia. Alex graduated from the University of North Florida where they majored in English and minored in gender studies. They worked in public libraries for 7 years in Florida and in Columbia as a Teen Librarian. As a librarian, their research focused on teen engagement and usage of the library as well as the experiences LGBTQIA+ staff and patrons. They earned their Masters of Library and Information Science from the USC iSchool where they specialized in data science. Their interest in teen engagement in public libraries led them to pursue student engagement in higher education. 

Alex lives with their beautiful wife, dog and cat in Columbia where they do barre, indoor cycling, read a bunch and watch too much TV.
