Amber Lee, MFA
|Title:||Academic Advisor and Senior Thesis Coordinator
|South Carolina Honors College|
|Office:||DeSaussure College 124|
Amber has spent the last six years at UofSC pursuing a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition. During this time, she also taught first year English and was the assistant director of first year English before receiving the Bilinski Dissertation Fellowship. Her research centers around rhetorical theory and memory, particularly the way in which the past is shaped, memorialized and disseminated in politicized (often controversial) ways. Amber plans to complete her Ph.D. in spring 2021.
Amber grew up in Irmo and received an undergraduate degree from Clemson. After obtaining an M.F.A. in creative writing from Emerson College in Boston, she lived in Idaho and Italy before moving back to South Carolina to pursue a Ph.D. In her spare time, she enjoys running, writing fiction, reading, baking, working in her yard and playing with her cat, Raja. Amber says she’s always looking for book suggestions, so let her know if you have some good ideas.
