We are going back to Italy! Spend your summer on the famous Amalfi coast observing social networks and social capital in Italy. This course is open to any major and offers students a remarkable amount of interest in the concepts of social capital and how we make connections with each other.  During our stay in the beautiful cities of Sorrento and Napoli, you will both observe and explore the influence of social networks through various academic, cultural and co-curricular activities, while also getting the chance to see various landmarks known throughout history (Pompei, Sistine Chapel, Spanish Steps and much more).  During our stay, we will fly to Sardinia to observe social networks in the company Sardex and how they have survived through the pandemic.

Travel Itinerary

Arrive in Naples and transfer to Sorrento.  Students will have guided walking tours of the city, and visit places such as: Pompeii and one of the cooperatives.  There will also be some free time for students and a daytrip to Naples.

Meet with other cooperatives named ISTAT and Tibex, and transfer to Rome via high-speed train.  Visit places such as:  Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish steps.  Students will also receive guided tours of the Coliseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill.
