Looking for ways to get more involved in the Top Scholars community? There are ample opportunities to serve your peers and grow as a leader.
Scholars United Enrichment Team (SUET)
The Scholars United Enrichment Team (SUET) is both the general leadership body for Top Scholars and its student-run event planning wing. SUET members are elected by their peers (First-Year Scholars in early fall, upperlevel students mid-spring) to serve as representatives for their class and cohort. They collaborate with Scholar Programs staff on certain initiatives and strategic planning and may be delegated tasks to these ends. They also plan and execute Scholars United events throughout the year.
2024-25 Scholars United Enrichment Team
Executive Chairs: Josh Campbell (In-State) and Molly Conway (Out-of-State)
Senior Class Representatives: Cecilia Callozzo (IS) and Thrisha Mote (OOS)
Junior Class Representatives: Lyndsay Dalton (IS) and Virginia Arnold (OOS)
Sophomore Class Representatives: Brice Odom (IS) and Owen Coulam (OOS)
First-Year Scholar Representatives: to be elected September 2024
Peer Leaders
Peer Leaders are selected and trained to facilitate and support a small group of First-Year Scholars (FYS) through their transition to college life and independent living. They are eager to help welcome FYS into the community, connect them with key campus resources, and be a friend and mentor as they navigate the excitement and challenges of their new era of life. Scholars apply and are interviewed for this position in late fall and then train throughout the spring in anticipation of working with their groups the next fall.
2024 Peer Leaders
Karlee Witherite and Shyam Ganesh Babu (Senior Peer Leaders), Savannah Bornheim, Artemis Capece, Madison Hahn, Cody King, Kinsley King, Rebekah Martin, Dharmik Namineni, Prisha Patel, Lucy Shive.
Welcome Team
The Welcome Team is another FYS-focused leadership group that requires an application and interview process and that operates on a calendar-year cycle. This team works closely with Scholar Programs staff to plan and implement major FYS programs like the First-Year Scholar Orientation and a ropes-course retreat. It also creates the annual Scholar Directory and FYS resource binder and matches FYS with their Scholar Big, another upperclassman who will serve as a resource during their transition into college.
2024 Welcome Team
Izzie Rushton (Team Leader), Audrey Cobb, Melana Kucherina, Kylie Mostyn, Caitlin O’Hare.
Other leadership opportunities exist with specific programs such as the Last Lecture Series. All scholar leaders are invited each fall to apply to represent Top Scholars at the Undergraduate Scholars Program Administrators Association (USPAA) Scholar Summit, an annual conference that brings together representatives from top scholarship programs across the country for a weekend of learning, brainstorming, networking and professional development.
