What drew you to the field of medicine?
Growing up with parents as physicians, I admired their constant dedication, witnessing the fulfilling and challenging aspects of the medical profession. Entering high school, I began volunteering with the National Marrow Donor Program, where I saw the power of medical communication in bridging inequities and strengthening trust in the healthcare system. Pursuing thrombosis research and shadowing oncologists, I was inspired by how physicians can apply evidence-based medicine to provide hope to patients during their most vulnerable times. Ultimately, becoming a physician offers the privilege of combining my passion for promoting education, advancing science, and building human connections –– all in service of my community.
What are your plans after attending medical school?
Through my time in the Accelerated Undergraduate to M.D. program, I intend to explore research, healthcare policy, and service projects within the Columbia community. While my interest currently lies in hematology and oncology, I am committed to further exploring various specialties before dedicating myself fully to one as a physician.
