Ask me about… International Business, time management, student organizations, and the Student Success Center!

I am a sophomore International Business and Human Resources Management double major with a minor in Japanese. I absolutely LOVE drawing, painting, and playing video games in my free time. I originally started out wanting to be an art major, but I am astonished by the amount of professional and personal growth I’m experiencing in the Darla Moore School of Business so far, and I am looking forward to seeing how far I’ve come when I graduate!

I love: All. Forms. Of. Sushi. (Except those with fish eggs on them).

My favorite things: The smell and feeling of using brand new art supplies

My hobbies: Drawing, painting, playing video games, and reading

Skill I’d like to master: It’s a life goal of mine to become fluent in Japanese.

Something new I’d like to learn: How ancient civilizations became so astronomically advanced

Currently reading: Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami

Favorite movie: Interstellar

Favorite childhood memory: Going to the park and feeding swans pieces of bread.

My strength: Written and verbal interpersonal communication skills

My weakness: Oreo Ice Cream

I’m motivated by: Trying to set a standard for the younger members of my family and showing them that it’s possible to achieve great things and encouraging them to do so.

My escape: Drawing in my sketchbook

My advice for prospective students: Choose what school is the best fit for you! There are lots of different things to consider when choosing where to go to school, such as cost, campus size, distance from home, rural or urban, etc. It’s going to be where you live and what shapes you for four years of your life, so you want to make sure that the university you choose is the best fit for YOU.

My advice for current students: Make sure you balance and make the most of your time here! There are countless resources available here to you, so take advantage of them! Enjoy your time here because those experiences are valuable, but still make sure that you’re intentional about your academic and professional growth.

My favorite thing about the Honors College: I really love the community. Every day, I am reminded just how truly connected the Honors College community is. Even though I didn’t live in the Honors dorm freshman year, I have still made tons of friends through classes and activities. We’re all helping each other strive for excellence and do our best in class.

My reason for choosing the SCHC: Honestly, I was torn between USC and Princeton when I was making my college decision. As a minority, low-income student, getting accepted to Princeton seemed like an impossible dream that had come true; however, I still had family obligations on my plate. I was taking care of my grandmother, so the thought of being that far away from home really bothered me. I knew I wanted to do something with International Business, and USC has the number 1 IB program in the country; however, Princeton was an Ivy League, and I was really torn. Considering everything (distance, size of campus, etc.), I found myself really drawn to the SCHC because of its small-campus feel and ability to challenge and push students to achieve really incredible things. I wanted to become a part of this community, with its Southern hospitality, really cool classes, and closer proximity to my grandmother. I came to the conclusion that the SCHC would still give me an Ivy-League-quality education, but with other, more personal, factors that fit me way better than any Ivy League school would have. My time here has proven to me that I was right!
