I am a junior from Dayton, Ohio, majoring in English with a minor in Women and Gender Studies and a minor in Business. I love going to concerts, reading, playing my ukulele, singing, and doing yoga! Fun fact about me: I’m vegan! Someday I hope to combine all of these interests and find the perfect fit for me career wise. Here’s to hoping :)
My Favorite Things: Coffee, dogs, flowers, Polaroid pictures, and bubble baths.
Favorite Movie: 500 Days of Summer. I first watched this movie when I was a freshman in high school, and I love the way the ending isn’t quite what you want it to be. I absolutely love the soundtrack and the way the film is shot. I always make a new friend watch it with me to see what they think of it! It definitely started my love of indie films.
Something I’m Proud of: I am officially now a published poet!
What Motivates Me: What keeps me going is my desire to fit as much life experience into every single day that I can. I think that we are given so much time every day, and I want to make sure that I’m not wasting that time. People say that I am overly productive sometimes, but I think that I am simply using what I am given. If I think about how much experience, love, and fun I can fit into a single day, I am motivated to get out of bed and begin each day.
My Strength: I would say that my biggest strength is my ability to manage my time. I almost always set a schedule for myself, from doing my homework to breaks to making time for Netflix. A lot of people have told me that they’re amazed by how many things I can get done in a day. It gets to be a bit much some time, but I think it allows me to be a pretty productive person.
My Biggest Fear: I am absolutely terrified of birds. I can’t really explain why, but all birds are extremely scary to me. I think geese are the scariest, or maybe seagulls.
My Hobbies: Reading, yoga, playing the ukulele, singing, coloring (don’t laugh, I love it), and watching movies.
Something I will always do: I constantly twirl my hair! I have super curly hair, so it’s hard not to twirl them when I’m just sitting and talking to someone.
My advice for prospective students: Think about who you want to become as a person, and then think about whether USC fits the person you want to be. If you are constantly striving to be the person you are longing to become, soon enough that’s who you’ll be! USC is an amazing place to find yourself, so just go out and do it!
My advice for current students: Try not to get so caught up in the “what ifs” of life in college. We spend so much time being afraid of what could happen, sometimes we don’t make anything happen! Live in the moment, and savor what you can while you’re in it. The “what ifs” can wait until later.
My favorite thing about the Honors College: There are so many amazing people you will meet through the Honors College that you couldn’t meet anywhere else. You will meet people with all sorts of interests and strengths that are completely opposite of your own, and it will help you grow as a person.
Why I Chose the SCHC: When I visited USC, I just got this overwhelming feeling that this is where I belonged. The Honors College fit what I thought of as my ideal academic experience, and I have not been disappointed. The opportunities provided for you here are unlike any others, and I wanted to seize those opportunities so that I could have the best college experience possible.
