K. Annette Burnsed is an assistant professor in the Department of Retailing. She has a diverse educational background: (1) B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences (furnishings and interiors major); (2) M.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences (textiles, merchandising and interiors concentration); and (3) Ph.D. in Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies. Prior to teaching, Dr. Burnsed gained vast retail knowledge via being a sales associate, assistant store manager, store manager, assistant buyer, buyer, and showroom designer. In addition to her retail and teaching experience, Dr. Burnsed has 13 years of experience as a practicing interior designer.

Dr. Burnsed has both quantitative and qualitative research experience. Her research interests include consumer behavior, expenditures and consumption of home furnishings, and expenditures of sport fans. Her refereed articles appear in journals such as the Journal of Consumer Satisfaction, Dissatisfaction & Complaining Behavior, Family & Consumer Sciences Research Journal, Journal of African Development, and Qualitative Market Research: An International Journal. 

Dr. Burnsed is a member of the American Collegiate Retail Association (ACRA), National Retail Federation (NRF), and International Textiles and Apparel Association (ITAA). Within ITAA, she is chair of the ITAA Student Fellowships and Awards Committee, an ITAA board member, and an ITAA Operations Coordinating Committee member.
