Edward J. Mayeaux, Jr, MD, serves as Chairman, Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group Department of Family Medicine, and Professor and Chairman, Family and Preventive Medicine Department at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He also holds an appointment of Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
A fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians, Dr. Mayeaux maintains an active practice in family medicine. He is the recipient of many honors, including twice receiving the Shreveport Family Medicine Faculty of the Year Award and the Resident Appreciation Award.
Dr. Mayeaux received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University (LSU). He completed his family medicine residency and chief residency at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. He served as a faculty member at LSU-Shreveport from 1990 through 2013, holding a number of leadership titles including professor of family medicine, professor of obstetrics and gynecology, and vice chair of the department of Family Medicine.
