About the Program

Let’s explore how Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) can enhance participation and expression during writing activities. We will highlight practical strategies for integrating AAC into classroom writing tasks—ensuring all learners, including those with complex communication needs, have a voice. We’ll also examine how these approaches align seamlessly with Readtopia and ReadtopiaGO lessons, offering meaningful and accessible opportunities for all students to develop literacy skills.

Participants Will Learn:

  1. Key strategies for incorporating AAC into writing instruction to support students with complex communication needs in expressing their ideas effectively. 
  2. How AAC tools can be aligned with Readtopia and ReadtopiaGO lessons to promote participation and meaningful skill development. 
  3. How to apply practical techniques to create writing activities that integrate AAC and foster engagement, communication, and individualized expression in diverse learning environments.

Target Audience: Assistive Technology Professionals, Paraprofessionals, Sped Administrators, Sped Teachers, and Gen Ed Teachers
