Genetic Counselor Assistant

Are you a University of South Carolina undergraduate student seeking exposure to genetic counseling?

If you’re serious about being a genetic counselor, you are already aware that sustained experience in a medical genetics setting is a plus when you apply for graduate school. We would like to engage a promising undergraduate student as a part-time genetic counselor assistant. The selected candidate would assist genetic counselor faculty with educational and administrative projects in a 10 to 15 hour per week position.

How to Apply

Applicants should submit a cover letter expressing their interest, future education plans, a current resume/curriculum vitae, their most recent undergraduate transcript plus two letters of recommendation (one of which must be written by a USC professor). Please scan your materials and submit them via email to genetics@uscmed.sc.edu

  • Apply for Spring Semester before December 1
  • Apply for Summer Session before May 1
  • Apply for Fall Semester before August 1

Selected applicants will be contacted for interview. One qualified genetic counselor assistant will be selected per semester.

You may be able to incorporate your Genetic Counselor Assistant experience in your USC Graduate with Leadership Distinction requirements!
