UofSC SOMC Hooding Ceremonies Video now available

On May 7, 2021, we celebrated the amazing accomplishments of our Class of 2021 graduates at the hooding ceremonies for our Graduate and Medical Student Programs. Given the unprecedented circumstances that accompanied this year's commencement, every aspect of these events required new approaches that ensured a safe environment while truly highlighting the accomplishments of our graduates. Strategic Planning Update for the School of Medicine Columbia

A virtual town hall to discuss COVID-19 testing and vaccines will be held via WebEX on Jan. 12 (Tuesday). The town hall is open to all UofSC School of Medicine Columbia students, faculty and staff members.

A virtual town hall will be held for UofSC School of Medicine Columbia faculty and staff from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 6 (Thursday). The session will address questions related to the reopening of campus. Questions may be submit in advance.

Class of 2020 recognized through creative celebrations amid COVID-19 outbreak

Berry Campbell, M.D., has been appointed chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob/Gyn). He has served as the interim chair of the Ob/Gyn department since Jan. 1, 2020.

E.J. Mayeaux, M.D., chair of the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, has accepted a new role at Louisiana State University. Jamie Steen, M.D., will serve as interim chair.

Derek Payne promoted to assistant dean of administration and finance

Based on the recommendation of an advisory committee and a review of his qualifications, Executive Dean Les Hall has selected Derek Payne to fill the new position of assistant dean for administration and finance, effective July 1, 2018.

Perkins stepping down from SOM of medicine roles to focus on AVP position

On July 1, 2018, Jeffrey Perkins, CPA, CIA, CHFR, MBA, relinquished his roles as chief of staff and associate dean for administration and finance for the School of Medicine to focus his attention on his role as USC associate vice president for business & finance and medical business affairs (AVP).
