Required Health Insurance

All graduate students enrolled in nine or more credit hours, all graduate assistants and all international students are required by the university to have health insurance.

To meet the requirement, you must either:

Purchase the University-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan offered through Academic Health Plans with BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina

OR

Waive out of the university-sponsored plan during the published waiver period by providing documentation of enrollment in a comparable health insurance plan. Otherwise, the fee for the mandatory health insurance plan will be applied to your tuition bill.

 

Cost

The cost of USC-administered health insurance for 2023-2024 is $1302.80 for the Fall, and the Spring/summer is $1788.20 for a total of $3091 per year. Refer to the USC Student Health Insurance overview [PDF] for information about the plan.

While the USC School of Medicine Greenville campus does not have a stand-alone student health center, we have established partnerships with several Prisma Health System providers who have agreed to serve as medical providers for the School of Medicine students.
