Background

Baker received his B.S. in business administration from the University of South Carolina–Aiken and his Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. He received his Doctor of Business Administration from Kennesaw State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant, a member of the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants. He currently serves as the South Carolina delegate on the Governing Council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and as a board member of the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. He previously served on the board of directors and executive committee of the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and served as president of the organization for the 2011 year.

Before entering academia, Baker served as a vice president of consulting for a national consulting firm and owned his own practice before that. He had a successful career in public accounting and consulting for more than 20 years before pursuing a second career in academia.
