Immersion Days

Immersion Days: Your MBA Starts Here

Immersion Days are the official kickoff to the USC Professional MBA program — and one of the most defining experiences of your MBA journey.

Held twice per year, Immersion Days bring your cohort together on campus for an intensive, high-impact weekend that blends academic rigor, relationship-building, and real-world application. From the moment you arrive, you’re not just preparing for the PMBA — you’re fully immersed in it.

This three-day, in-person experience sets the tone for the program, helping you build momentum, confidence, and connections that last well beyond the weekend.

Fall 2026 Immersion Days:  Friday, August 21 – Sunday, August 23

*Please note: Prospective PMBA students interested in enrolling for the Fall 2026 term must be admitted no later than July 25 in order to enroll in the Fall Immersion. We recommend that applicants submit their application no later than July 10 in order to meet this timeline.

Immersion Days are a required, three-day on-campus experience (Friday evening through Sunday) designed to launch your PMBA experience with purpose.

During the weekend, you will:

  • Engage in structured networking opportunities with your cohort
  • Build relationships with faculty and program leadership
  • Collaborate closely with classmates through team-based learning
  • Complete your first core MBA course in an intensive, in-person format

*Please note: Students enrolling in the spring semester attend the Spring Immersion, while students enrolling in the summer or fall semesters attend the Fall Immersion. With only two Immersion weekends each year, the experience is intentionally designed to bring cohorts together at key entry points into the program.

A central component of Immersion Days is MKTG 701: Marketing Management, a required, three-credit core course completed entirely during the weekend.

You begin your MBA by diving into real academic content — applying concepts immediately and working through complex business decisions alongside your peers.

The course emphasizes:

  • Marketing strategy and decision-making
  • Product, pricing, communication, and distribution analysis
  • Team-based problem solving
  • Applying theory to real-time business scenarios

Students consistently describe this immersive format as engaging, practical, and impactful — a powerful way to experience the expectations and rigor of the PMBA program from the start.

One of the most valuable aspects of Immersion Days is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships early in the program.

Throughout the weekend, connection happens naturally through:

  • Team-based coursework and group projects
  • Breakout sessions and small-group collaboration
  • Shared meals, breaks, and informal conversations
  • Interactive activities designed to foster collaboration

By working together in person, students quickly develop trust, familiarity, and confidence — making it easier to collaborate, communicate, and lean on one another throughout the entirety of the program.

Many students leave Immersion Days feeling more connected, more comfortable reaching out to peers, and more confident navigating the program as part of a supportive cohort.

Immersion Days are intentionally structured with working professionals in mind.

The weekend format allows you to:

  • Focus fully on the experience without ongoing weekly travel
  • Build relationships efficiently in a short, high-impact timeframe
  • Complete a full core course in one weekend
  • Gain clarity on expectations, academic rigor, and program structure early

From logistics and pacing to communication and flow, the experience is designed to be seamless, engaging, and respectful of your time.

Students consistently report that Immersion Days:

  • Help them feel prepared and confident entering the PMBA program
  • Make the program feel real and immediately relevant
  • Strengthen cohort relationships from the very beginning
  • Create academic and professional momentum that carries forward

By the end of the weekend, you’ve already completed a core course, built meaningful connections, and stepped fully into your MBA experience.

Immersion Days are more than a kickoff — they are the foundation of the USC Professional MBA.

You arrive as an admitted student.

You leave as a connected, confident member of a cohort — with academic progress already behind you and a network moving forward with you.
