Spring Term — Break Global Classrooms

Spring Term — Break courses are taught first on campus for eight weeks before students travel abroad during Spring Break. 

Courses

Dubai, Abu Dhabi

This course offers students a unique opportunity to explore the dynamic business environments of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, two of the most vibrant and rapidly growing cities in the Middle East. The course will enhance students’ knowledge and insights pertaining to global commerce, innovation and sustainability in the UAE context.

  • Open to Rising Scholars Only
  • Potential Credit Earned: International Credit (3 hours), IBUS Regional Credit (3 hours) or Upper BA Elective Credit (3 hours), MGMT Major Elective Credit (3 hours)

Florianópolis, Itajaí

The primary objectives of this course are to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of regional development strategies, innovation ecosystems, and entrepreneurial practices, drawing on Brazil's rich and diverse business environment. Through firsthand exposure, students will explore how these themes are shaped by Brazil's unique economic, institutional, and cultural landscape. The course will also facilitate cultural immersion by engaging with Brazilian business leaders, entrepreneurs, and academic experts, fostering a deeper understanding of the local business environment. By participating in experiential learning and networking opportunities, students will enhance their global business acumen and gain insights into the intersection of innovation and regional development. Still, they may also be applicable in their other future endeavors. 

  • Open to all undergraduate students including freshmen.
  • Potential Credit Earned: International Credit (3 hours), Upper BA Elective Credit (3 hours), or IBUS Regional Credit (3 hours)

Florence, Modena and Milan

Learn more about how cultural tourism, destination marketing and fashion industries impact retailing during the first half of the semester. Discuss the challenges of competing in the global marketplace along with factors for developing and managing retailing. All product markets are affected by regulatory factors, resulting in evolved marketing techniques.

  • This course requires successful completion of or concurrent enrollment in MKTG 350.
  • This course can be applied to regional course requirements for international business majors or upper BA elective credits.
