College of Pharmacy

Admission Requirements

If you know pharmacy is the career for you, a good first step is to declare a major of pre-pharmacy when applying to the University of South Carolina. Once accepted, you’ll be part of the pre-pharmacy program at the College of Pharmacy.

Undergraduate Admission

Pre-pharmacy admission is handled through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. If you are in high school and preparing for your first year of college, be sure to review the required high school courses to make sure you stay on track, and then plan a visit so that you can see UofSC and the College of Pharmacy with your own eyes!

When you apply for admission, simply declare pre-pharmacy as your major. Upon acceptance, you’ll automatically become part of the pre-pharmacy program of the College of Pharmacy.

Undergraduate Transfer Admission

Internal Transfers (current UofSC students)
A minimum GPA of 3.00 and 12 credit hours excluding AP or IB courses are required to become a pre-pharmacy major. Current students also must attend a College of Pharmacy change of major workshop to enter the pre-pharmacy program.

External Transfers (from another college or university)
If you’re transferring from another college or university, the process is also handled through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Learn more about the transferring process and requirements.

International Admission

If you’re an international student interested in pre-pharmacy, you should apply at least nine months before the semester in which you plan to begin your studies. Learn more about the admissions process for international students.
